After discovering Mr. Hung in Martial Law I tried to find as much information about him as possible. I was convinced that what I saw in Martial Law is the real stuff. You can imagine my shock when I saw his skills in his HK films, I simply couldn't believe my eyes what he can do. From that moment my view on filmbusiness changed forever. Naturally I saw Bruce Lee and Jackie Chan films, but was not really interested. What I think now? Honestly? I think I wasted decades of my life on films where computertechniques and bluescreens were the real stars. I am grateful that through his films Mr. Hung taught me what real art is about.
As I see more and more of his films, my respect, admiration and love for him continues to grow. I cannot find the words to describe what I feel when I see the sheer power of his actions, the fantastic camerawork, the breathtakingly beautiful pictures, his way of emphasizing the tiniest details and his never ending jokes. The way he is able to and ready to make fun of himself just to make us laugh. It is a strange experience to step by step discover him but I am willing to make those steps. I am convinced that this journey makes me better, more open, more understanding to the world. He already opened up such depths in my soul that I never thought existed.
I found that the sources are very limited about him on the internet so I decided to create a site of my own where I try my best to collect information about this wonderful man, the best martial artist of our time. I doubt I can create anything worthy of him, but I'll put my heart in it. However, these are my first steps of building a site, so please forgive me if things go a bit... well... clumsily. The interviews, reflections are typed in by me, most of them come from DVD interviews, audiocommentaries, I tried to write down what was said. English is a second language to me so surely there are many mistakes. If you find any, please let me know and I'll correct it.
I'd like to emphasize that all the screencaps are taken by me (the exceptions are noted), but some of the photos I published are collected from other sites. I cannot remember the sources. If you find that these belong to your site, please contact me and I will do as you wish: link back or remove them.
Thank you!
